Casey is first and foremost a curious student of the human experience. Some of his favorite teachers are (in no particular order) his 8 children, 2 grandchildren, his wife of 28 years and JRR Tolkien. Although much of his time is spent delivering mail for the postal service, he dreams of traveling the US and becoming a full time writer/storyteller. Casey has been with Stories R Us for 3 years and this is his 5th time sharing.

Karen Scott moved to Lockport in March 2023 after having lived in Maryland for almost 30 years, where she worked as an education specialist in Washington DC for the US Environmental Protection Agency. Karen worked in education her whole career, starting in elementary education in public schools and the US Peace Corps, as well as adult education for the US Army, and in evening schools, community colleges, and workplace literacy programs. She is now retired and lives with 3 cats near her son and daughter-in-law and 3 grandchildren, which has been delightful, but she misses her daughter in Baltimore.
Coming to us from her home in Shorewood, and formerly from Lockport, Katie Ward is retired from any number of things like teaching deaf and hard of hearing students, and from children's choreography for the Joliet Ballet Society as well as local stage productions. She seems also to have retired from cooking even though she has a large family that includes four children and thirteen grands. About six years ago she began transforming her skills from nonverbal communication to storytelling, and considers herself very much a work in progress along those lines.
