Casey is first and foremost a curious student of the human experience. Some of his favorite teachers are (in no particular order) his 8 children, 2 grandchildren, his wife of 29 years and JRR Tolkien. Although much of his time is spent delivering mail for the postal service, he dreams of traveling the US and becoming a full time writer/storyteller. Casey has been with Stories R Us for 3 years and this is his 6th time sharing.

Karen Scott moved to Lockport in March 2023 after having lived in Maryland for almost 30 years, where she worked as an education specialist in Washington DC for the US Environmental Protection Agency. Karen worked in education her whole career, starting in elementary education in public schools and the US Peace Corps, as well as adult education for the US Army, and in evening schools, community colleges, and workplace literacy programs. She is now retired and lives with 3 cats near her son and daughter-in-law and 3 grandchildren, which has been delightful, but she misses her daughter in Baltimore.

Marty Timm is a life-long resident of Lockport, Illinois. He works in information technology for a Chicago-based market research firm. He is president of the Lockport Area Genealogical & Historical Society (LAGHS). The organization collects and archives materials relevant to the history and residents of the Lockport area. Some people meditate or jog every day. Marty does crossword puzzles and other word games. He also enjoys reading (when he isn’t eye-guzzling some new series on Netflix) and owns more books than he can probably finish in this lifetime. Music and movies are also amongst his pastimes. Marty currently has no favorite sports team and refuses to take a side in local team rivalries. On the rather rare occasion when he can watch horse racing, he will. And dream, as he did when he was a boy, of owning a horse…His interest in storytelling started after seeing episodes of the PBS series, Stories from the Stage. The connection that the storytellers forged with the audience by talking sincerely and straightforwardly about pivotal moments in their lives was fascinating. He hopes to become an effective storyteller to share the memories he has of his family life, work life, and special moments with friends. There are moments in our lives that should not be forgotten. Whether they are big or small, individual or a collection of related moments, those memories can be honored in the form of stories.
